Heather is Snake's closest friend in the game. She was very close with Otacon and Liquid, and she managed to go relatively unscathed once Snake was added into the mix. He sees a lot of himself in her, and respects her a great deal. He regrets dragging Heather through the mess that was the whole constantly debacle with Otacon and Liquid, but he tried his very best to make it up to her by being with her when he could. Unfortunately, Snake was pulled from the game, leaving Heather to her own devices. Now that he's back, he's happy to know she's all right, that she's survived. Snake has decided he's not going to leave her side again, if he can help it, even if she's no longer alone.

Snake doesn't know too much about Tenten, other than the fact she's in the PGC along with him. She wants to be a legendary ninja, and she's proud of fighting, despite being just a kid from Snake's point of view. The last time they spoke, Tenten became very defensive of the fact Snake was skeptical of an academy that trained children to be killers, and the two have very different ideas about war and battling. Snake respects her persistence and will to fight, but he's not sure if she truly understands war, death and slaughter, as well as its hardships. He doesn't dislike her, and he'd be willing to keep talking to her.

Hal and Dave have been best friends since Shadow Moses. After the mess with Snake, Liquid and the previous Otacon at Route, Snake had become a bit wary and cautious around Otacon, even after his second coming to the game. This time around, Snake feels he can have a second chance, and he's relieved to see that Liquid Snake isn't in the game, otherwise the old soldier would worry about losing his best friend again. Snake and Otacon are so close, they even have a stupid handshake.
