shoppin', shoppin' [Video ; Action]
[Old Snake's in the department store in Goldenrod, having gone to the natural food section and looking for things to improve his own health as well as make his Pokemon stronger. The shelves were stacked to the ceiling, the area smelled like yogurt and herbs with a hint of dust, and there was this short old woman who kept eying him.
He was certain those were bedroom eyes.
She worked the frozen yogurt machine, and while Old Snake did enjoy frozen yogurt, he was certain he did not want it enough to go near her.
In his right hand is the PokeGear, and in his left is a list of items to pick up. He's got a basket hanging from his left arm with a few proteins and calciums, very carefully taking those because they're expensive as hell.
Sitting on his head is Snake's Surskit, looking at all the items and trying to help with picking things out. Snake knew the basics of what you could eat for survival and on the battlefield, but he was no Big Boss. He frowned, turning on the Gear.]
This is Snake. I'm in the Natural Foods department of the Goldenrod Department Store... What the hell should I buy for my team to keep them strong? Keep in mind that I've got a tight budget.
[After having given Solid to Heather for a short time (and the both of them having minor heart attacks when Solid suddenly evolved into a Steelix), Snake had begun to think more about what could help his Pokemon get stronger, as well as evolve if they needed to.]

... Well, Vegetarians don't survive on tofu, but it's a good way to get protein. Also protein supplements are good, but my Pokemon don't like taking them. Solid used to, though.

Me either... But you learn a few things when you live in Alaska.

There are enough tribes living up there to keep me company if I needed it. I got into dog sledding, and I'd take part in dog sled races with the nearby Eskimo and Inuit peoples.

... [...] Well, I used to be able to do it... [OLD, HUH...]

Claire.
What the hell?

You're kidding, right?

Claire, you told me that you died once.

That means you can't die, doesn't it? [He's putting it together, despite thinking it still could be because of nanomachines.]

Well, usually it's just meat. Though since they don't eat the pokemon, I have no idea where the meat comes from.
[Shrugs.] I might get some tofu while I'm here, anyway.
[Clearly not a tofu person.]

Though I tend to be more inclined with "whatever works." The pervert chef got more particular about healthy food types, but so long as they're fed and Straw-hat stops whining, works for me.
[Though rations weren't exactly the best for you over an extended period of time.]
I mean I was a Captain, so I had more options. Plus when I was stationed at Loguetown, I could just skip out to the bars. [Which he did. All the time.]
Still, some habits die hard.
Sounds like you had it made.

Can't say the same for the rest of the Grand Line, but most marine wars and battles aren't elongated for more than a couple of days at most.

You can't get stronger standing still.

I can't stand it... It makes me feel like I'm slipping backwards to not be racing ahead.
