[ Snake's in Goldenrod, since he arrived about last week and decided to hang around. He wanted to go to Ecruteak, but he figured he could at least relax for a while before making the trip to Violet again.

This is Snake. I'm in Goldenrod, I'm going to Violet either tomorrow or the day after... I haven't really decided yet. At any rate... Heather, are you interested in going to Ecruteak..?

And Claire, where are you now?

It hurts people and...How do you ever know if you're on the right side? [She needs hugs so she'll just continue holding on for a little bit longer] Why do people fight for something when it's just going to hurt someone else? It's not fair!

Because people need something to fight for. But that something gets lost in the process... And they just end up fighting in proxy wars that have nothing to do with them. Profit, earnings, it just boils down to who makes the biggest paycheck in the end.

Most times, people don't see the other side as being people-- just a figure that needs eliminating.

[Okay she'll let go now so she can look at other things. Like her feet. She makes sure to keep the smile on her face.] Do you...think people like that are bad? [Because L'Cie basically = PMCs.]

Even if they don't make any money? [She shouldn't be talking so seriously with Snake about something that she hasn't discussed with many people but he knows what he's talking about and he's old and she kind of trusts him.]

[She doesn't have a problem with seeing them as people. That's what caused the problems in the first place-she couldn't NOT think of them as living, breathing people no matter what she was told to do.]

It's not about good guys and bad guys. [looks over at the hot dog stand.] It's not about winning or losing. There are sides, but the people on them aren't light or dark. They're just fighting, caught up in something they don't really understand.

But even so, when there's war, there are survivors. [Looks to her.] You'll have to survive and you'll have to get blood on your hands. Sometimes it's too much for people to take... Where I'm from, war has changed.

[Looks down at Marlboro.] Nanomachines are injected into the soldiers' bodies, controlling their emotions, keeping them from suffering from the stress of battle... Making men able to fight without guilt.

I don't understand. [Is he saying she should have gone along with Fang instead chickening out at the last second? Destroyed Cocoon? Or was he saying she should just survive as she was now? She had brought it upon herself and she didn't regret it. But hurting people...] What should they do?

[She doesn't have to call Ran back to her. The Pidgey is already landing on her shoulder and beaking her hair in some sort of attempt to comfort her. At least it makes up for her starter being a jerk. :|;; ] With all the time they spent on that they could have solved things and no one would have to fight.

... Peace is only achieved when the other side is neutralized. There is no true "peace". Even in places like this, there are those that want to cause trouble. There's always conflict, you can't stop it.

... If there was no war, I wouldn't have been born. [Would have been a good thing, he thinks.]

[Marlboro nudges his head against Snake's leg and the old soldier smirks a bit.]

Being here... is a lot easier.

[She frowns a bit. She feels sorry for him. She can't even stand to be involved in one war, let alone a lot of them.] Yup. But...Sometimes I still miss home. Do you?

... There are people I miss. [ Sunny, his Otacon, Big Mama... ] But I don't miss that world. Besides, even if I go back, I'll still be... [dead in a few months.] Ah, never mind.

[She grabs his hand and bounces to her feet] Let's go do something! Like get something to eat! Or...play a game at the game centre! [Yep. Trying to stop the sadness.]

[ Grunts a bit at the sudden enthusiasm. He stands up slowly, hitting his back lightly. ] Game center... I'm not really good at games.

Me neither! But even if we lose it's still a good memory, right? [Grinning ear to ear now and she's not even trying.] Or maybe you should eat something? We could go to the restaurant! [She knows there is one because France said he worked there.]

A restaurant, huh... [He wasn't extremely hungry, but a little food never hurt. Might improve his Psyche Gauge, too.]

[Woo! She stops to think for a minute. Now where could that place be?] Let's go! [Yeah she doesn't know where they're going but if she looks around enough she's sure they'll find the place. She starts searching at a quick, pretty ridiculous looking walk.] What kind of things do you like to eat, Snake?

[ ... not going to watch that ridic walking, instead he'll just do his slower walk. ]

Ah, anything I guess. [icecreammmm] On the battlefield, I usually just get noodles and rations.

Noodles and rations? [She turns around quickly and starts walking backwards, looking horrified] No good! That isn't very healthy!You're not fat though... [She laughs]

I've never been to the restaurant but France said it was good! [Oops almost tripped. Vanille decides that matching Snake's pace would probably be a better idea...] I usually make all our food. I mean...My food.

... [Does enough running around to not be fat.]

You can cook?

Of course! Fang says I'm pretty good at it too! [She nods, proudly] I don't know whether she says that so she doesn't have to cook or not...

Well, does she look ill after eating it? [Rose cooks, but she's awful at it, so.....]

[She smacks his arm not so lightly] Of course not! I said I could cook, right? I've been doing it since I was a little kid.

... Hn. Maybe I could try your cooking sometime.

Why not now? I...I keep buying too much so it's not a big deal! [Because she keeps expecting Fang to come back.] I'll make you something good! Unless you want this to be a public date~ [teasing teasing]
