[ Snake is still in Goldenrod, thankfully, but he's staring at a rather enormous Pokemon before him. His 'Dex told him what it was, but he can't help but feel... nostalgic. ]

... [He recognizes that voice. That was his voice. Snake turns, staring... Octo-camo? Can't be; camo didn't change your voice. Just your appearance. Sure, he's met people from the past here, but... He didn't think it was possible to meet yourself.]

What...?

[Sorry, old man, he's sort of distracted by the suspiciously Metal-Gear-like monster over there. He reaches instinctively for a weapon, only to find himself unarmed.]

[He growls, low and frustrated, before looking sharply over at his older counterpart. If he's fazed by the similarities, he doesn't let it show just yet.]

Want to tell me just what's going on here?

... [ Snake can't help but stare. He feels his blood run cold, like he's staring at a ghost. And then, overwhelming sadness fills his heart. He can't explain why, but figures it's due to seeing this man before him... He'll never be that young again. ]

Hn... [ He looks back at the Metagross, and frowns. ] That's a Pokemon, an animal from this world... I'm not sure how it got here though, I've never seen it in this city before...

An animal? It's alive?

[Sounds impossible. Which doesn't seem to mean much anymore. He watches the Pokemon and the older man with equal distrust. Neither of them seemed to be making any threatening moves just yet, at least.]

Where the hell is here?

... This is Goldenrod, a city in the Johto Region. It's fine if you don't know where the hell that is, it's another world or something. [ Takes out a cigarette. ]

Johto? Never heard of it.

[Snake shifts his gaze from the wandering Metagross back to OS.]

...Hn. If all this is a joke, it's a bad one. So what's your story?

[He's a little dense sometimes, but not that dense. This guy gives him an odd feeling. Not Big Boss, but he looks pretty damn similar.]

... My story? [ Lights up, before taking a long drag. ] You don't want to know.

[He scowls when the question is dodged. Mostly Snake isn't interested in prying into other people's lives. But he's had some pretty bad experiences with people that share his face. Every one he's met has tried to kill him.]

Who are you?

[A little more sharply this time. This man was too damn familiar not to have something to do with all this. Snake stopped believing in coincidences a long time ago. His hands curl into fists as OS is busy lighting up. Someone had to have dragged him here, to this place. Question was-]

Why am I here? Answer me.

Calm down. [ ... Snake suddenly feels a lot older. He sighs, rubbing his eyelids. ] The reason I'm saying you don't want to know... is because you really don't. Might ruin your life.

[ Frowns. ] Looks like you were chosen to come here like the rest of us. I've been here for four months about. [ Tilts his head. ] Otacon's here.

[Hey man, like you wouldn't be a little defensive. This is somehow managing to be weirder than most of the crap he has to put up with. But he's successfully distracted for the moment.]

Otacon?

[Somewhere between relieved and hugely suspicious, he lifts a hand to try and activate his codec. Like hell he's just going to take your word for it.]

That's not going to work. [ Nods at the use of the codec. ] At least, it doesn't for me. You can communicate through one of these, though. [ Takes out his PokeGear. ]

[Glares balefully at the old man and stubbornly tries anyway.]

[Unfortunately there's no response. Not even static.]

... [ He knows there's nothing, for he's tried countless times. Snake shrugs, putting the 'Gear away and taking a drag from his cigarette. ]

Any luck?

[ Asks anyway, just to be an old ~~fart~~ jerk. ]

[~~Jerk.~~ You know how stubborn you can be, OS. But he gives up after a while, grunting irritably in answer as he drops his hand and turning to regard the old man suspiciously again.]

How do you know so damn much?

[Him, the codec, Metal Gear, Otacon. Too much. He's not letting this go.]

Let's just say I've been through it all before. [ Sits down with a low grunt. ]
